Weddings are a beautiful celebration of love and commitment, and I had the honor of coordinating a stunning wedding for Teresa and Peter that unfolded over an exhilarating 15 hours. With four unique events throughout the day, each moment was filled with tradition, joy, and unforgettable memories.
The Day Begins: The Tea Ceremony
8am - Our day kicked off bright and early with the traditional tea ceremony, a significant ritual in Vietnamese culture. Peter and his family arrived at Teresa's house, bringing with them gifts which included wine, fruits, jewelry, and a roasted pig—a gesture of respect and commitment.
As Peter's family presented their offerings, Teresa’s mother walked her daughter down the stairs, ready to hand her hand to Peter. This touching moment was marked by the couple serving tea to their parents, a sign of deep respect and gratitude.
Following the tea service, they honored their ancestors by lighting incense at the family altar, embracing the spiritual significance of the day. Teresa and Peter received gifts from their families—blessings for prosperity and support as they start their new life together. This heartfelt moment captured the love and encouragement surrounding Teresa and Peter as they embraced their future as a married couple.
Introducing Teresa to Peter's Family
9am - After the first tea ceremony, Peter took Teresa to his home, where another meaningful ritual awaited. There, they lit incense to honor his ancestors, symbolically introducing Teresa as a cherished member of his family. This moment emphasized the importance of family ties and the deep respect inherent in their traditions.
Celebrating with Family and Friends: Lunch and Matrimony Mass
10am - After the heartfelt ceremonies, we gathered for a delightful lunch, allowing the families and guests to connect and celebrate together. The atmosphere was filled with laughter and love, creating a perfect lead-in to the next event.
12pm - Next, we traveled to St. Joseph Parish in Vancouver for the matrimony mass. The church was filled with love and joy as Teresa's father handed her hand to Peter, symbolizing his blessing and support. This sacred moment, where Teresa and Peter exchanged vows and solidified their commitment to one another, was a testament to their love and devotion, witnessed by family and friends.
Capturing Memories and the Reception
2pm - Following the mass, the wedding party traveled to Trout Lake for newly wed and wedding party photos. Then they quickly headed to the reception venue to refresh before guests arriving.
6pm - 600+ guests started arriving. We had 4 family members helping guests to find their seats and attended the guest table. We celebrated Teresa & Peter at the Riverside Banquet Hall, where the reception took place.
7pm to 12am - The atmosphere was electric with joy, laughter, and dancing, as everyone came together to honor Teresa and Peter’s love story. The feast featured Vietnamese dishes and it was plated as family style where guests was sharing food as family. There were great entertainment activities such as karaoke, photobooth, table toasting, wedding games. My personal favorite moment is when Teresa's brother, Vincent, was singing Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You for the newly weds' First Dance. You can bet I was tearing up!
As the day came to a close, we had successfully coordinated a day that spanned nearly 16 hours, filled with rich traditions, heartfelt moments, and joyous celebrations. It was a privilege to be part of such a significant day in Teresa and Peter's life, and I couldn’t be happier for them as they embark on their new journey together.
